Finance for Non-Financial Managers

(Financial Awareness; a Core Competency)

The Management training “Management Finance for the Nonfinancial Manager”, called “Bergame” covers two full days plus one introductory evening and is made up of a business simulation game that teaches managers how to become ENTREPRENEURS – so that they can identify opportunities to create wealth for their businesses – and MAKE IT HAPPEN.

“Bergame” is the highly successful enterprise simulation that sets its participants to understand how various departments of a company depend one another and how their decisions will affect cash.

Working in teams participants will use a table-size game board to help them visualise the running of their company. They will be asked to decide on labour standards, investments and disinvestments, bank loans, manufacturing products, quantities, qualities and production methods; bid for raw materials and determine the selling price for their chosen range of products in a range of chosen tender markets and conditions. Also they will learn to tender and negotiate.

‘Bergame’ will show them the component parts of the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Account entries will fall into place. They will learn to value business performance from published accounts.

A delivery of this well established enterprise simulation is supported by two trainers / game masters. It has successfully been used by leading companies. References can be made available.

Big advantage over computerised simulations is that participants will see the consequences of their decisions in their faces.

Two days of ‘Bergame’ ‘Action Learning’ teaches more about the running of a business than a fortnight of Finance training will do!
